The title "Thumbnail Sketches" alludes to the way the music is arranged, sort of like a series of thumbnail sketches of the tunes.
Beautifully played by Jim, the selection of material ranges from the folksy "Woman of Ireland" to the haunting sophistication of Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood".

Red, Red RoseA Robert Burns tune, "Red, Red Rose", another solo guitar piece recorded at the solo guitar recording sessions, found its natural home on Jim's "Burns" album, released by Black Box Music in the year 2000.
When you Wish upon a StarA third recording, "When you Wish upon a Star" found its way onto Jim's "Animation" album, released by Black Box Music in 2002.
