Piece of the Action) was recorded, from scratch, one day in January in my studio.
My former neighbour,
Nigerian Chima Enwezor, asked me to put together a rap track for his brother's film soundtrack. Chima brought fellow Nigerian
Funsho Ogundipe to play keyboards along with Yusuf Rimdap, a young Nigerian law student who wrote and performed the rap.
Funsho played Fender Rhodes and sampled brass, Chima played shekere, and I took care of the Pro Tools engineering and MIDI programming, programmed the drumbeats and played guitar - all in one 6-hour session.
Chima returned to Nigeria immediately after the session and has not yet returned to complete the recording. Meanwhile, Yusuf Rimdap, encouraged by the results, is busy putting his own home demo facility together.
