As featured vocalist with Moon and Sniff and the Tears, Morrissey-Mullen and Mezzoforte, and (since 1990) with Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Noel McCalla is one of the UK's leading session and touring musicians.
We have been good friends since I met Noel at a Morrissey-Mullen gig somewhere around 1981, and we co-wrote our first song a few years later in 1984. In 2006, Noel started recording vocals on several classic soul tunes and jazz standards that I had been working on with Jim Mullen and the rest of the team. Noel's busy schedules, touring with Manfred Mann's group in Europe and gigging as guest vocalist with the Dave Lewis Band, don't leave him with much free time, but we hope to complete an album of recordings by the end of this year with a view to releasing these in 2009.
